Reconciliation/Confession

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Children registered to receive the sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time will also be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. For information, please contact Janet Hastings at 410-742-6443 or jhastings@visitstfrancis.org.

Adults celebrate the Rite of Penance in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Sounds complicated, but it really is not. Simply put, we celebrate God's love for us despite our sinfulness! You may celebrate this sacrament in a number of ways.

If it has been a while and you are unsure of how to celebrate, contact Liza Alvarado, and she will help you with the particulars. 410-742-6443 or lalvarado@visitstfrancis.org.

Choose what is most comfortable for you.

Individual Confession - Each Saturday after the 8:30 a.m. Mass in St. Francis de Sales Church, a priest is available in the reconciliation room at the back of the church to celebrate this sacrament with you.  The line will form along the side wall as each person waits for their turn.  If you frequent Holy Redeemer Church and would like to celebrate the sacrament there, it is available at 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays before the 4:00 p.m. Mass. Please let an usher know that you would like to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation.  The usher will tell the priest when he arrives, and you will be invited to enter the reconciliation room at the back of the church. Confession times for the Hispanic community are before the noon Mass on Sundays at St. Francis de Sales Church.

Communal Prayer service with Individual Confession- Three times a year, we have a prayer service in the St. Francis de Sales Church with individual confessions after the prayer.  We invite priests from the Eastern Shore, giving you additional choices of whom you would like to see for your confession. We celebrate this way during Advent and Lent, and once in the summer.

Confession by Appointment - You may contact the parish office by phone (410-742-6443) or email parish@visitstfrancis.org and schedule an appointment with the priest of your choice to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation.  Once the date and time are arranged, you will meet the priest in the parish office and use one of the conference rooms for your conversation.
