First Penance for Your Child? Click here to see our programming calendar.

Have you ever thought about polishing your halo?!  It is a simple process, really, just celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation and you will feel as good as new-clean, shiny and holy again!   You may remember this sacrament being called confession or penance.  We now celebrate the Rite of Penance in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Sounds complicated, but it really is not.  Simply put-we celebrate God loving us despite our sinfulness! You may celebrate this sacrament in a number of ways.  If it has been awhile and you are unsure of how to celebrate, contact Michele Harris and she will help you with the particulars.  (410-742-6443 or mharris@visitstfrancis.org)  She is really nice and will answer all of the questions you might have about the sacrament. You can also find more information online by clicking here.

Choose what is most comfortable for you:

Individual Confession-Each Saturday after the 8:30 a.m. Mass in the St. Francis de Sales Church a priest is available in the reconciliation room in the back of the church to celebrate this sacrament with you.  The line will form along the side wall as each person waits his or her turn.  If you frequent Holy Redeemer Church and would like to celebrate the sacrament there, please arrive early for the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday and let an usher know that you would like to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation.  The usher will tell the priest when he arrives and you will be invited to go into the reconciliation room in the back of the church.

Communal Prayer with Individual Confession
-Three times a year we have a prayer service in the St. Francis de Sales Church with individual confessions after the prayer.  We invite other priests so that you have a choice from about a dozen priests of who you would like to see for your confession.  We celebrate this way in advent, lent and once in the summer.

Confession by Appointment-You may contact the parish office by pone (410-742-6443) or email (parish@visitstfrancis.org) and schedule an appointment with the priest of your choice to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation.  Once the date and time are arranged, you will meet the priest in the parish office and use one of the conference rooms for your conversation.

A video regarding the sacrament of penance can be found at: www.usccb.org/video/sacrament.shtml  Be sure to scroll down the sacrament of penance.
